Coaching Objective
Skill Level: Beginner, Skill Development: Ball Handling and Control. This is an excellent drill to use as a warm up and help you develop your ball handling skills. Maintain control and when you feel you are mastering this drill then speed it up.
Drill Instructions
- Stand with your left foot forward with toes pointing forward, right foot behind you balanced on your toes and left arm up in a guard position.
- Dribble the ball with your right hand on the side of your body in a forward and backwards motion.
- Keep control of the ball dribbling forwards and backwards.
- Do this for 45 seconds and then repeat with your left hand, with your right foot forward and left foot behind.
Coaching Messages
- Keep control of the ball, stay balanced.
- Keep your head still and look up in front of you.
- CHALLENGE YOURSELF: Complete as many dribbles as you can in a set time-frame.
- CHALLENGE YOURSELF: try and dribble as fast as you can while keeping control of the ball.
- CHALLENGE YOURSELF: stand with feet shoulder length apart and use 2 balls at the same time.
- Feel like you have the ball on a string and Be Awesome!
