Coaching Objective
Skill Level: Beginner, Skill Development: Rebounding, Strength & Fitness. This is an excellent rebounding drill for beginners to teach you to time your jump when rebounding and improve your catch of the ball. When rebounding the ball, it should be taken from the highest point in the air. This drill provides you with repetitive rebounds to practice taking the ball at its highest point. If you don’t have a backboard you can use a wall instead. This drill is also great to help improve your strength and fitness.
Drill Instruction
- Begin the drill by standing on the left or right side of the hoop, approximately 2 big steps away from the backboard.
- Throw the ball up against the backboard and time the fall of the ball and jump up as high as you can. Catch the ball at its highest point.
- Keep repeating for around 10 to 15 repetitions and repeat another 3-5 times after each 10 to 15 repetition.
