Coaching Objective
Skill Level: Intermediate, Skill Development: Rebounding & Strength. This is fun drill to do with friends. This drill will help you improve your rebounding, increase your strength and fitness. You can do this drill with 2 or more people. If you don’t have access to a backboard, you can use a wall instead.
Drill Instruction
- Begin the drill by having all participants standing in a line on the left or right side of the basket with the first person in line approximately 2 big steps away from the backboard.
- The first person in line throws the ball up to the backboard and runs to the end of the line
- The second person rebounds the ball by jumping up as high as possible to catch the ball. The ball should be rebounded at its highest point.
- The second person then throws the ball back up at the backboard and runs to the end of the line.
- The next person in line rebounds the ball and throws the ball up to the backboard and runs to the end of the line.
- Keep repeating the above steps.
Coaching Messages
- CHALLENGE YOURSELF: Set yourself a time and see if you can avoid the ball touching the ground.
- Concentrate on your timing and trying to catch the ball at its height point.
- Jump as high as you can.
- When catching the rebound, grip the ball tightly.
- Jump High and Be Awesome!
