Coaching Objective

Skill Level: Intermediate, Skill Development: Rebounding & Pivot. This drill will help you rebound the ball with control focusing on good rebounding technique and pivoting to the outside to pass the ball outwards to begin the quick transition from defence to offence. If you don’t have a backboard for this drill, you can use solid wall.

Drill Instruction

  1. Start with the ball left side of the goal, around one big step away from the backboard.
  2. Throw the ball up at the backboard, bouncing the ball off the back board then jump high and secure the ball with both hands.
  3. Land with the ball and maximise the protection of the ball by bringing the ball to your chest just under your chin with your elbows out wide.
  4. Pivot away from the basket, keeping your outside foot grounded looking for an outlet pass.
  5. Repeat on the right side and continue to complete 10 times on each side.
