Coaching Objective
Skill Level: Advanced, Skill Development: Handles. Develop your ball control through repetition. Learn the handling sequence and then try and complete it faster. Handles are a form of exercise which stimulates your body to release ‘feel good’ hormones, or endorphins. These natural mood lifters will keep stress at bay and improve your mindfulness.
Drill Instruction
- Starting with the ball in your right hand and your feet just wider than shoulder length apart.
- Bringing the ball to the front of you, wrap the ball around your right leg.
- Bring your right hand back and after one bounce, cross the ball behind your back from right to left.
- From behind, control the ball with your left hand and then bring the ball out in front of you and cross from the front to the back between your legs.
- Control the ball with your right hand from behind you, then bring the ball out in front of you and cross from the front to the back between your legs.
- Control the ball with your left hand from behind you.
- Bring the ball to the front of you and wrap the ball around your left leg.
- Bring your left hand back and after one bounce, cross the ball behind your back from left to right.
- From behind, control the ball with your right hand and then bring the ball out in front of you and cross from the front to the back between your legs.
- Control the ball with your left hand from behind you, then bring the ball out in front of you and cross from the front to the back between your legs.
- Control the ball with your right hand from behind, then repeat steps 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11.

- Try and look up and don’t watch the ball.
- Challenge Yourself: complete the drill quickly without losing control.
